The Backcountry Film Festival is a tool to help our member
groups and other nonprofits build raise money for their efforts in
protecting human-powered winter recreation. It also helps to spread the
word about the pleasures of backcountry skiing and snowshoeing—and build
excitement for the new season.
We charge $100 for Grassroots Member Groups, and $150 for non-member groups. The sponsoring non-profit keeps the ticket and raffle sales. We highly recommend that nonprofits become a Grassroots Member Groups—besides the discounted film festival, we provide technical assistance and updates you can’t get otherwise.
Winter Wildlands Alliance provides the films on one DVD, produced for showing to the crowd. We also provide some graphics and press materials that you can customize for your event and print locally and submit to your local paper. Most organizations contact their local outdoor stores to donate raffle prizes, and raffle them off during intermission. It’s a great way to raise additional funds for your organization.
Once you secure your venue and a date, you’ll want to come up with a DVD player, projector and sound system for the venue, and some raffle tickets. Your local college or school may be able to help with A/V equipment if the venue can’t.
The films will be available after November 13 (the Boise premiere date). We suggest local shows occur before March 1.
